Masters of Education Portfolio of Sultan Rana
A New Beginning -
The Commencement
July 2012
This portfolio is a very personal and fulfilling endeavour. It marks both the completion of my graduate experience, and the potential beginning of a new endeavour in the field of education. This degree has altered my understandings and point of view when it comes to what I think (and once thought) about education, leadership, and pedagogy.
This is also the beginning to a new way of educating. I hope to see the end to traditional forms of education, pedagogy, bureaucracy, and leadership. The graduate program and portfolio are a testament to the notion that education can no longer progress slower than the rate of change in society. The program has taught me that it is time to harness the massive capacity technology holds to meet the needs of all learners by reducing the digital divide (digital literacy) and to re-engage students of all learning abilities and interests. Furthermore, all of this needs the drive and vigor of effective leaders who can present, implement, and facilitate all of these changes to meet the needs of underserved students from high-needs and low-income populations.
The graduate program has laid the theoretical foundation to support my visions and thoughts for a better education system for the disenfranchised. It has also provided me with the tools and agency to implement ideas, facilitate change, and lead in ways I once thought I was incapable of doing.
